Hi! I'm Samantha and when I was applying to colleges I had the same exact feeling. Whenever people asked me "what do you want to go to school for" I was almost always overwhelmed when thinking of an answer. To me, it was a loaded question because I had to figure out quickly what I wanted to spend my time doing for the next 40+ years, and I wanted to be sure I would enjoy doing it. Eventually I landed on nursing, which is a profession that I always considered, and with this decision I became much more comfortable with and excited for my future career. Plus, I have many friends and family that were in this field and I have the utmost respect for everything that they do, especially today with COVID. I graduated from high school in 2016 and was, for the most part, an above average student. School and the work that came along with it just came naturally to me, but boy was I in a rude awakening when college rolled around. There were more than a few times in the four years I spent completing my undergrad where I considered either changing my major, or leaving entirely, but I stuck with it and I'm so happy that I did. I finally graduated from college in May of 2020 with my BSN and plans to go back to school in the future for a Masters Degree. This obviously starts the whole "what do you want to go to school for" fiasco again, but this time around I'm much more comfortable with the question, even if I don't exactly have an answer yet. Career-wise, I'm now a Registered Nurse at Stony Brook University Hospital, and living proof that if you work hard enough you'll end up exactly where you hoped. My advice is to never give up, even if it seems impossible to get to where you want to be!
